December is Here,
Snow is finally in the Air.
And the Ingraham trees await a decision.
Will it be stay, will it be slaughter?
Will some survive and others die?
Is it to be a time to rejoice or a time to cry?
Is there a Shaman for the Trees?
Mans decision is but a fleeting moment in time,
For in eternity the trees survive.

Ingraham still has trees!
WOW,
What a meeting, the Students rallied for the new addition, as though they were led by pro's.
The process was undeniably a position of passion for themselves verses passion for the future.
Parents were heated and angry that their children were suffering at the hands of Tree Huggers, and that their tax dollars were being wasted because authority had been questioned.
And the Tree Huggers, hung in there. quietly watching, listening and wondering what the maintenance procedures of the school had to do with the life of the trees?
Trees that are 75 years old, trees that tower to the height of 120 foot and beyond, trees that are magnificent and hold ones attention and cause one to actually tilt their head back to see the top. Trees that if you stand under, you may not see the top, only the branches...
What will happen to these magnificent wonders of nature? If the School District has its say, they will become lumber. Replaced with 5-6 foot saplings, chances of survival is equivalent to 0 in a High School atmosphere of the ME philosophy.
There is a time and a place for everything...is there a time and a place for these wonders of the Century? These trees that reach beyond our imagination? Is this the time for their life to continually flow or be drained into the ground?

Endangered Species
Trees in Seattle have become an endangered Species.
As each day passes, more trees are killed.
Some because they are hazards,
Some due to aesthetics,
Some are in the way,
Some are trees,
all are gone.
Today a tree stands tall and majestic. A home is shaded, a family enjoys beauty.
Tomorrow the home is sold. The Developer rolls, and the Tree is gone.
Eternity's loss.
Such is the Destiny for Seattle's Trees.
Evergreen will be Evergone.
It is in the hands of the Mayor and the City Council to pass an Interim Emergency Tree Ordinance, that protects trees inside and outside development, before there is no reason to have a Tree Ordinance.
Will it happen?

Tree Tops
Walking down the sidewalk, I can't help but to look up.
Up into the heights of a majestic grove.
So tall, so unmistakably strong, and beautiful
my eyes can barely drink in this amazing wonder.
On a glistening trail,
golden grass surrounding me,
I walk into this small haven of forest
in the midst of a concrete world.
Sun waves breaking through the branches,
air thick with the glaze,
branches surrounding trunks
circling skyward into the blue
Breathe taking are the tree tops,
towering above, as I stand
In a land of giants, being comforted
in their strength.

When did you become a tree hugger?
As I sit and look at the Douglas Fir across from my home,I wonder, When did I become a tree hugger?
I haven't always been a tree hugger, I come from a life style where wood was used for heat.Trees were used to make money, wood for heating homes, and old downed Cedar for Cedar Roofing Shakes. Trees were clear cut for schools to have money
and might I add, still are.
When did trees were to make money migrate into Trees are to be preserved, to be handled as rare and priceless, to be cared for and allowed to grow?
When did the love affair with Douglas Fir begin?
I can't figure out an exact date. I think it merged from the gray concrete,
walls that surround me in this city, known as SEATTLE.
These walls extend miles upward into the sky.
I awoke one day and realized I missed the green.
I missed the freshness of an evergreen tree.
The towering height the beauty as it gains new growth.
Year after Year being intact and green.
I became a tree hugger when the trees by my home became
an endangered species. Out of 130 trees the school district
will be removing 90+. That is when the tree hugger emerged.
I have a mission now, it starts with Ingraham High schools
Trees.
The mission continues to help pass laws, and save other
trees in our evergreen city. Let it forever be Evergreen
Let it forever have conifer forest with 100 foot or more trees.
I became a tree hugger when the trees needed a hug....

Trees in Time
Recently, I was visiting a friend who had moved into her home in 1970. She mentioned how amazed she is that the Sequia tree in her back yard is so big. When she moved in it was less than 5 foot tall, now it towers beyond 100 feet. It is a sight to behold, in a land full of houses and few trees.
She also frequently tells me how a Real Estate agent approached her to have the tree topped, so that the house they were trying to sell would have a view. Being a nice neighbor she investigated the concept, and found out it wasn't her tree that would obstruct the view, it was her neighbors bedroom wing that would obstruct the view.
Every time she views the tree; she is glad she didn't listen to the Real Estate agent.
The property behind her has changed hands at least 5 times in the last 10 years, the tree remains intact. The Beauty continuse to grow.

News from the trees
Summer is upon us.
Remember our childhood friend
Only you can prevent forest fires
Be careful
Be alert
And be ready
Trees are watching!

Saving trees in the Seattle Public Schools
How does one convince the Seattle Public Schools that trees are a valuable asset?
I have found that as far as Seattle Public Schools is concerned trees appear to be in the way. The more trees killed, removed and done away with the better the schools, the education process and the economy for the school districts.
What are your opinions regarding trees and Public Schools in Seattle or other places across the nation?
I believe we need trees for future generations. Our health is dependent upon the scientific classroom and lab that each tree presents to our society.
To remove large trees between 60-100 foot and declare them to be equivalent to a ratio of 2, 5-6 foot trees in place of 1, 60-100 foot tree seems wrong.
The 100 foot trees of today keep growing.
The 5-6 foot trees of tomorrow begin growing
With luck Eternity will have both.
